Rainstorms will continue to batter most of southern China over the next three days as the national observatory maintained a rainstorm alert on Thursday.
Heavy rain and rainstorms will sweep most parts of southern China from Thursday to Saturday, with Typhoon Trami moving northwestward after making landfall in southeast China's Fujian Province at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).
Some regions to the south of the Yangtze River and areas of Yunnan Province are expected to experience downpours of up to 300 millimeters within 24 hours, the NMC said.
It warned local authorities to be on high alert against possible flooding and landslides.
