China's civil organizations launched a donation event on Wednesday in Beijing for Chinese victims of Japanese aggression, Beijing Times reported.

The event, jointly launched by the Chinese Civil Claims Against Japan Federation, China Social Assistance Foundation and Tencent Weibo, plans to collect 365,400 yuan ($59,700) for 116 victims in a month.

Three victim representatives attended the event. Eighty-three-year-old representative Li Liangjie told his story of being kidnapped by Japanese at 14.

Wang Xuan, chairwoman of a group that filed a lawsuit on behalf of Chinese victims of Japanese germ warfare in World War II, said, "This disadvantaged group needs more attention and help from society."

The 116 victims are made up of 20 comfort women, 50 forced labors, 36 Panjiayu massacre victims and 10 germ warfare victims. Each is expected to receive about 3,000 yuan.
