Heads of nursing home sacked over deadly fire

HARBIN, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The head and deputy head of a nursing home in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province have been fired over a blaze that killed 11 people, local authorities said Friday.

Li Kezhi, head of the Lianhe Senior Nursing Home in the city of Hailun, as well as deputy head Li Yan, were fired on Friday and are being investigated by police and disciplinary authorities, a statement from the municipal government said.

The fire happened at 1:15 a.m. at the nursing home's inpatient building, according to the municipal publicity department.

Thirty-two people were in the building when the fire broke out, according to the department.

The nursing home has been cordoned off.
