BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- China's chief justice has called for efforts to improve the quality, efficiency and transparency of trials held in courts across the country.
Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court, made the remarks at a Friday meeting.
Zhou said further efforts should be made to regulate judges' use of discretion and streamline the understanding and application of laws in order to maintain the coherency of the legal system and the authority of the judicial system.
He also called for improving the quality of court trials and judicative documents.
More court documents should be made available online and judicial procedures should be made more open to the public in order to ensure fairness, Zhou said.
