The mother of a 12-year-old girl, who insisted on buying an Audi A4 for her boyfriend, said she and her husband collect rubbish for a living and only earn 5,000 yuan ($815) a month, Dahe Daily reported on Thursday.

The girl went to a car dealership on Monday with four male friends and told the salesmen that she was 14 years old and wanted to spend all her money to buy an Audi A4 for her 16-year-old boyfriend.

But the salesmen refused the girls request as they suspected she was possibly coerced by the males, judging from the weird behavior of the five.

The girl later said her parents are too strict with her, and she wanted to leave them.

But she refused to explain why she intended to buy a car, according to media.

The mother, who was identified as Zhao Hua, denied her daughter's claims that she has more than 300,000 yuan in savings. Zhao also said her daughter keeps causing trouble.

The girl, whose name was not revealed, migrated from a small town in Henan province to Zhengzhou with her parents when she was 3 years old, Zhao said.
