Eight people died and 20 others were injured in a construction site accident in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, local authorities said Thursday.
The accident occurred around 8 am at a construction site operated by the Simengou mining company in Shenmu county of the city of Yulin, sources with the county government said.
Twenty-eight construction workers were buried under a cement reinforcement cage when it collapsed, sources said.
All of the victims were pulled out of the debris by 10 am, one was declared dead at the scene, while seven others died in local hospitals.
The injured are being treated and are in stable condition, according to the sources.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
