FUZHOU, Sep. 11 (ChinaMil) -- A trans-MAC campaign exercise codenamed "Mission Action 2013" kicked off on September 10, 2013 in the 31st Combined Corps under the Nanjing Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
The exercise will be carried out in three echelons. The participating troops of 17,000-odd officers and men are mainly from related forces under the 31st Combined Corps. The East China Sea Fleet and the South China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy and the air force under the Nanjing MAC will dispatch surface ships, transport aircraft, fighters and armed helicopters to take part in the force projection and the actual-troop drills. Civil aviation and railway sectors will also participate in long-range force projection.
In 2009, the PLA organized a trans-MAC actual-troop exercise codenamed "Stride 2009" participated by the Shenyang MAC, the Lanzhou MAC, the Jinan MAC, the Guangzhou MAC and the PLA Air Force, in which nearly 50,000 troops participated and maneuvered for over 50,000-odd kilometers.
In October 2010, the PLA organized another trans-MAC mobile exercise codenamed "Mission Action 2010". Some troops totaling 30,000 from three combined corps under the Beijing MAC, the Lanzhou MAC and the Chengdu MAC participated in the exercise.
