HK college students to experience military life

The 3rd Military Life Experience Camp for Hong Kong college students officially opened in the San Wai barracks of the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on August 4, 2013. A total of 150 students from 16 colleges and universities in Hong Kong will spend 15 days experiencing military life here.

The guard of honor of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison held a national flag hoisting ceremony around 10:30 a.m. at the beginning of the opening ceremony of the military life experience camp.

The military life experience camp of this year starts on August 3 and ends on August 17.
The PLA Hong Kong Garrison has held nine consecutive military summer camps for teenagers and three military life experience camps for college students.

In addition to military training such as physical training, formation training, the campers will also attend lectures on national defense and military affairs, visit barracks of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, participate in recreational and sports events, and watch a variety of evening parties.

The 150 campers are grouped into three platoons of boys and two platoons of girls. Their training instructors are all excellent soldiers selected from the PLA Hong Kong Garrison.
The recipes are made according to eating habits of Hong Kong students with specially arranged personnel to inspect food hygiene. Each student is provided with customized camouflage uniforms and basic life necessities.

The "Military Life Experience Camp for Hong Kong college students" is jointly organized by the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, the Organizing Committee of the Military Life Experience Camp for Hong Kong college students, the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic Of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
