New frigate commissioned to PLAN

DALIAN, August 2 (ChinaMil) -- A ceremony for the commissioning, naming and flag-presenting of the light guided missile frigate Yingkou (hull number 581) of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN) was held at 10:30 yesterday morning at a naval port in Dalian in northeast China's Liaoning province.

The ceremony marked the beginning of the corvette's military service in the North China Sea Fleet of the PLAN.

The warship is a new-generation light guided missile frigate independently developed by China. It is 89 meters long and 9 meters wide with nearly 1,500 tons of displacement.
