BEIJING, April 17, (ChinaMil) -- Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), met with Shamsi Vuai Nahodha, the visiting Tanzanian minister of Defense and National Service, and his party on April 16, 2013 in Beijing.

Fan Changlong expressed that China-Tanzania friendship, personally established by the older generations of leaders of the two countries, is exemplary among the friendly relations between developing countries. In his recent successful visit to Tanzania, Xi Jinping, president of the People's Republic of China, inherited and promoted China-Tanzania friendship and advocated that China and Tanzania should be faithful friends and sincere partners for ever.

For nearly half a century, China and Tanzania have achieved fruitful results from the bilateral cooperation in politics, economy and culture, etc. and the Chinese and Tanzanian militaries have had close contacts with each other as evidenced by deepened pragmatic cooperation. The Chinese side is grateful to the Tanzanian side for its consistent valuable support on issues concerning China's core and vital interests, and is willing to make joint efforts with the Tanzanian side to constantly push forward the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and the two militaries.

Nahodha said that Tanzania's friendship with China is its valuable wealth. The Tanzanian side wishes that China will obtain greater development in the building of various causes, and is grateful to the Chinese military for its support and assistance to the Tanzanian military. It is hoped that this visit will further consolidate the friendly and cooperative relations between the two militaries, and meanwhile, the Tanzanian military will learn from the Chinese military to enhance its ability of self-development.

Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), and Philip Marmo, Tanzanian Ambassador to China, were present at the meeting.
