CPC Q&A: What role do CPC organizations play in armed forces?

BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is being held in Beijing. Here are some basic facts about the CPC:

Q: What's the relationship between the Party and China's armed forces and what role do CPC organizations play in armed forces?

A: The CPC Constitution stipulates that the Party persists in its leadership over the PLA and other armed forces, builds up the PLA's strength, ensures that it accomplishes its historical missions at the new stage in the new century, and gives full play to its role in consolidating national defense, defending the motherland and participating in the socialist modernization drive.

The members of the Military Commission of the Central Committee are decided on by the CPC Central Committee.

Party organizations in the PLA carry on their work in accordance with the instructions of the CPC Central Committee. The political work organ of the Military Commission of the CPC Central Committee is the General Political Department of the PLA; the General Political Department directs Party and political work in the army. The organizational system and organs of the Party in the armed forces are prescribed by the Military Commission of the Central Committee, according to the Party Constitution.
