Shanghai's Huangpu District government has launched a series of free public lectures on preserving the city's culture during construction projects.

The series is being held in conjunction with Fudan University and the Shui On Group development company.

The lecture series will invite government officials, scholars and developers to discuss how to maintain and develop culture during urban construction.

Local residents can listen to the lecture for free.

The first lecture was held in the Xintiandi area in Huangpu after the three sponsors signed agreements to hold the series.
