YONGCHUAN, China, Feb. 13 -- China had the second consecutive victory in Women' s Soccer Four-Nation Invitation Tournament here on Thursday by beating Mexico 3-1.
Mexico, ranked 25 in the world, gave China a blitz right after the match began. In the 2nd minute, Mexico' s free kick made China' s penalty area chaos and Nayali Rangel' s shot from close range put Mexico 1-0 ahead.
China bounced back immediately. In the 3rd minute, Li Ying lost her one on one opportunity with Mexican goalkeeper. But one minute later, Yang Li didn' t waste the chance anymore.
China equalized the score and took control of the first half. In the 14th minute, Yang Li' s second goal of this match put China in lead. Seven minutes later, Ren Guixin' s header doubled the lead for China to 3-1.
In the second half, both teams made some changes but neither side could change the scoreboard again.
"I' m quite satisfied with the result today because we had a early loss but our players got back to the game very quickly." said China head coach Hao Wei in the post-match press conference.
Mexico' s head coach Leonardo Cuellar said it' s difficult to accept the result but this tournament is beneficial to the team' s preparation program to the 2015 Canada World Cup.
China will play against the last opponent DPR Korea of this tournament on Saturday while Mexico will meet New Zealand.
