Wei Jizhong, honorary life president of Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB), heaped praises on Chinese coach Lang Ping on Sunday after she steered China to the runners-up at the FIVB world Grand Prix finals.
China won four matches and lost one to finish second behind Brazil in the six-team round-robin competition, their best result in the annual event since 2007.
"The Chinese team have made remarkable progress since Lang Ping took the reign," Wei told Xinhua. "Now China is widely considered among the top three teams in the world."
Wei said that the Chinese team need more time to mature, as Lang Ping took over in May.
"Lang is a very good coach. We believe that she can take the Chinese team back to their prime. Just be patient," he said.
Besides China, the other teams at the world Grand Prix finals are hosts Japan, the United States, Italy, Serbia and Brazil.
