Nanjing 2014 vows to present memorable sports and cultural gala

SOCHI, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee (NYOGOC) pledged here on Tuesday to present a memorable sports and cultural gala for the youth around the world.

During his 15-minute presentation to the ongoing 76th AIPS Congress in Sochi, Gu Dongdong, Division Director of Internet and Digital Media Function Area of NYOGOC, said that the 2014 Youth Olympics will be "a Green, Dynamic and Cultural YOG".

According to Gu, NYOGOC has organized a series of activities among the youngsters to promote the core values of YOG.

"Our 'Goes with YOG' long-distance running has been held in more than 100 cities in China, attracting over 1 million participants," he said.

Gu added that the construction work for Nanjing 2014 is going smoothly as planned and the city is making huge efforts to improve its environment.

In order to preserve the legacy of the YOG, NYOGOC also plan to build a YOG museum and city sports sculptures.

"With your attention and support, Nanjing 2014 will prove to be an amazing and memorable sports and cultural festival for the young people around the world," Gu concluded.

The Nanjing YOG will take place from August 16 to 28, 2014.

The 76th AIPS Annual congress, which run from April 15 to 19, draw around 340 members from 113 delegations.
