ZHENGZHOU, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The national record of the men's 200-meter breaststroke was renewed by Zhejiang Swimmer Mao Feilian and London Olympic bronze medallist Tang Yi of Shanghai won the women's 100m freestyle on Saturday at the National Championships.
Mao, who ranked third in the preliminary, touched in 2:11.16 to win the gold. Guangdong swimmer Mao Junjie trailed in 2:12.81, while Xue Ruipeng of Shanxi ranked third in 2:13.16.
"I am surprised," said Mao. "I felt tired today after my previous matches."
"I used to be a medley swimmer and just changed my major to breaststroke since January," said Mao, whose shared the same coach with Sun Yang.
Tang Yi, who collected four gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010, won the event in 54.03. Liaoning swimmer Qiu Yuhan placed second in 54.64, while Pang Jiaying of Shanghai ranked third in 55.33.
"I feel good today, though I am not in my best form," Tang said. "I just resumed training for a few days, so I took the Championships as practice."
"The time was not very good, as my personal best is 53.28," she added.
In women' s 200m backstroke semifinal, Olympic Champion Ye Shiwen entered the final ranking the first. Another Olympic Champion Jiao Liuyang entered the 50m butterfly final.
In men' s 200m backstroke final, Xu Jiayu from Zhejiang won the champion in 1 minute 57.83 seconds because his main competitor Zhang Fenglin from Shandong quit the game. Li Yunqi from Henan and Lin Taiqi from Fujian shared the silver and bronze medal in 1minute 58.89 seconds and 2 minutes 0.07 second.
In women' s 200m breaststroke final, Shi Jinglin won the champion in 2 minutes 25.88 seconds, and He Yuzhe From Zhejiang and Zhang Xinyu From Guangzhou Army won the second and third in 2 minutes 29.12 seconds and 2 minutes 29.78 seconds.
In men's 4 * 200m freestyle final, He Nan team won the champion in 7 minutes 18.09 seconds. Jiangsu and Zhejiang placed the second and third.
