BEIJING, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Shandong Gold became the second team to secure a spot in the CBA playoffs after beating Zhejiang Guangsha 110-90Wednesday for a 12-game winning streak in Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.
Zaid Abbass and Pooh Jeter finished with 25 points apiece for Shandong. Li Jingyu helped with 19 points.
Shandong had a 10-0 run after the game began and firmly held the advantage in their hand later. With consecutive 3-pointers from Wang Zheng and Forbes, Guangsha pulled away within just one point after the first period and maintained that deficit into the final 12 minutes.
Abbass' slam dunk gave Shandong players a huge boost in confidence and they took a 95-82 lead with 4:20 remaining to seal the victory.
Gilbert Arenas produced another shining performance with a season-high 45 points, but that was not enough to secure Shanghai Sharks' win as they lost to Fujian SBS 114-108. Fujian's promising rookie center Wang Zhelin scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
On Tuesday, leaders Guangdong Hongyuan notched their 14th straight win by crushing Jilin Northeast Tigers 141-99, the largest margin so far in this season.
Seven players of Guangdong scored double-digit points. Yi Jianlian only featured a half and scored 23 points. Terrence Williams contributed 20 points.
Qingdao Doublestars, which had already no chance to qualify for the playoffs, managed to beat Shanxi Zhongyu 135-130 after overtime. Tracy Mcgrady came on court as a substitute for Qingdao, finishing with 27 points. His teammate Chris Daniels became the hero with 40 points and 21 rebounds.
In other matches, Jiangsu Dragons downed Tianjin Ronggang 89-80, Zhejiang Chouzhou handed defending champions Beijing Ducks second straight road loss 109-104, Dongguan Marco Polo lost to Liaoning Hengye 98-83 and Foshan Long Lions was edged by Bayi Fubang 118-114 in overtime despite Shavlik Randolph's 55 points and 15 rebounds.
