Britain 's industrial production was flat in July, but the broader manufacturing sector posed a slight rise of 0.2 percent in the month compared with the previous month, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Friday.
The ONS said manufacturing has presented increases for second consecutive months, contributing to the monthly increase in July.
However, industrial production dropped 1.6 percent compared with the same period of last year, with the manufacturing falling by 0.7 percent year on year.
According to the ONS, the main manufacturing components contributing to the year on year decrease were the manufacture of machinery and equipment; the manufacture of basic metals and metal products; and that of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations.
But the hot weather in July helped increase production in a number of sectors for example beverage production, electricity and water supply.
