A Chinese firm has started commercial production of LED (light emitting diode) chips with Chinese technologies, which seeks to break the monopoly of overseas firms and cut the cost of LED products.
Brilliant Light Technologies is producing MOCVD (metal organic chemical vapor deposition) equipment and related technological services commercially in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, the firm said.
"It breaks the monopoly of foreign firms in the LED chip device market and the localized device will finally help cut cost of LED chips and final products like lighting to spur development of the industry," said Daniel Qi, senior LED analyst at Semi, a US-based research firm on the semiconductor industry.
