Gansu drives development of clean energy

In recent years, Guansu province made use of abundant solar and wind resources to boost the development of clean energy. As of the end of the third quarter in 2012, the province has built a total of 42 grid-connected wind farms with 3,990 wind machines and the installed capacity amounted to some 5.8 million kilowatts; the province has also built 20 photovoltaic grid-connected power stations and the total installed capacity has reached 285,000 kilowatts. It is expected that by the end of 2015, the installed capacity of wind power in Gansu will reach 17 million kilowatts and that of solar power will surpass 6 million kilowatts.
