BEIJING, March 10 -- A magnitude-7 earthquake hit the sea off the coast of the U.S. state of California at 1:18 p.m. Monday Beijing Time,according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter, at a depth of 10 km, was located at 40.8 north latitude and 125 degrees east longitude, according to the center.
