Severe cyclone hits Andaman and Nicobar Islands in Bay of Bengal

NEW DELHI, Nov 24 -- Several hundreds of people have been evacuated as a severe cyclonic storm with wind speed of above 110 kmph hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands Sunday.

The disaster management department of the islands said that, due to the cyclonic weather, hundreds of people from the areas around Hutbay, Long Island and Ranjat have been evacuated to safer places and heavy rainfall is predicted in the next 48 hours.
