Ruling coalition candidate leads Georgia's presidential election: preliminary results

TBILISI, Oct. 28 -- The candidate of Georgia's ruling coalition led Sunday's presidential election, according to preliminary results released on the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) official website.

Giorgi Margvelashvili, from the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia coalition, has gained 63.82 percent of the valid votes cast at 3,741 polling stations.

Among the other 22 candidates, Davit Bakradze, from the opposition party United National Movement, has garnered 21.28 percent of the votes, while another opposition leader Nino Burjanadze has got 9.51 percent.

CEC spokesperson Ekaterine Azarashvili late on Sunday reported a final turnout rate for the 2013 presidential election at 46.6 percent, or 1,648,662 voters.
