HOUSTON, July 18 (Xinhua) -- A United Airlines flight bound for Amsterdam experienced engine issues shortly after takeoff and returned to a Houston airport safely Thursday, local media reported.
According to airline officials, the crew identified an undisclosed issue with one of the engines and decided to return to the airport as a precautionary measure.
The Boeing 777 aircraft, which was carrying 223 passengers and 15 crew members, landed without incident at the Bush Intercontinental Airport in the afternoon, local TV KTRK reported.
The airlines said in a published statement later that their maintenance team was reviewing the aircraft and all passengers aboard were re-accommodated on an alternative airplane.
It's not immediately known what exactly caused the engine issues.
