The Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi is to explore more culture collaboration with China to attract more Chinese tourists to Italy.

Founded in 2006 by the City of Florence, the organization is Italy’s first autonomous public-private foundation. Its goal is to be a laboratory for the city to experiment with ways to create new opportunities and new collaborations.

The number of Chinese tourists to Florence has quickly increased since it launched projects to attract more Chinese guests in 2006, said James M. Bradburne, the Fondazione's Director General, a member of the International Advisory Board of the Chinese Science and Technology Museum (CSTM), at a news conference held in the Italian Embassy in Beijing on June 20.

He said Florence has provided Chinese language, more comfortable hotel environment and services to tourists from China.

Talking about the protection of historical building, Bradburne said although Italy is rich for historical buildings, both China and Italy have to consider how to created new values with culture we all ready have and how to create new economy values with historical buildings instead of building new ones.

Bradburne said he has the affection to the Chinese people when he came to China. Chinese young people impressed him with their positive energy, innovation and curiosity. He called on Chinese people to get close to Italian people and culture for a better understanding of Italy when they came to this country.

This foundation has also introduced Chinese culture to the Italian by exhibitions and activities.
