BEIRUT, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Tuesday handed UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly a memo on the Syrian violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

According to a presidential statement, Suleiman delivered to the UN official the memo that dealt with "violations and attacks carried out by both the warring parties in Syria."

There have been several attacks from rebel-held areas in Syria against Hezbollah strongholds in northeastern Lebanon in recent months after the militant party, along with the Syrian army, recaptured the key central Syrian town of al-Qussair.

Syrian government troops have also carried out attacks on border areas, mainly against Lebanese northeastern town of Arsal, which has become a shelter for rebels and people fleeing the fighting in Syria.
