BERLIN, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Police cordoned off streets near Berlin's main Hauptbahnhof Railway Station on Wednesday morning as a 100kg unexploded World War II bomb has been discovered nearby.

A police spokesman said the authorities would decide what to do with the bomb, which was found on Tuesday evening near tracks which run north of the train station.

The incident has caused traffic disruption as the Hauptbahnhof serves as one of the biggest railway hubs in the country, while city traffic was also affected due to closed roads near the station.

Thousands of unexploded WWII bombs are believed to be buried in Germany. In 2010, one unexpectedly detonated bomb killed three people. In August 2012, a 250-kg bomb in central Munich was denoted as it was not safe to defuse it.
