China Recipient of 1.185bn yuan in Anti-SARS Donations
As of 15:00 Thursday, China had received a total of 1.185 billion yuan (about 142.77 million US dollars) in donations for its fight against the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

According to the figures released Friday by the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA), the donations have mainly been channeled through various levels of the MCA, the Ministry of Health, the Chinese Red Cross Society and the Chinese Charity Federation.
Of the total, some 766 million yuan (about 92.3 million US dollars) were cash donations, while the remaining 419 million yuan(about 50.5 million US dollars) consists of donated relief materials.
Currently, twenty-five provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China have received anti-SARS donations.
Of the 25 recipients, 12 have received donations exceeding 10 million yuan (about 1.2 million US dollars). Beijing ranks highest as the recipient of approximately 265 million yuan (about 31.9 million US dollars).
