Israeli Gunfire Kills Fatah Leader in Tulkarem

A leader of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing of Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement, was killedby Israeli gunfire in the West Bank town of Tulkarem on Thursday.

A leader of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing of Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement, was killedby Israeli gunfire in the West Bank town of Tulkarem on Thursday.

Witnesses said two Palestinian militants, including a leader of the armed wing Fayez Jaber, were killed in a gun battle with Israeli soldiers.

According to the witnesses, an undercover Israeli unit surrounded a group of militants and shot two dead while injuring another.

The two militants were on an Israeli wanted list for carrying out a series of armed attacks.

Israeli Radio reported that several other Palestinians were arrested during the operation.

Palestinian medical sources said 17 Palestinians were shot and injured during clashes with Israeli forces near Jenin after the Israeli army destroyed a house in the village.

Earlier reports said three Palestinian children were injured during an Israeli army patrol in the village.
