Costa Rican sports analysts considered as deserved the 2-0 victory of the Central American team against its Chinese counterpart in Korea-Japan 2002.

"Costa Rica offered varied resources and obtained a well-deserved victory," said daily La Nacion's correspondant Rodrigo Calvo in reference to the changes the Costa Ricans presented on the pitch that led to their triumph.

Calvo said the Costa Rican national team "had too much respect for China" in the beginning of the match which after 45 minutes had no scores.

On the other hand the correspondant of daily La Republica, Cristian Williams said "Costa Rica managed to overcome obstacles" and Radio Columbia's Luis Echeverria coincided in that Costa Ricans attitude in the second half made them win.

The Central Americans defeated 2-0 China on Tuesday at the South Korean city of Gwangnju, 320 kilometers south of Seoul.

Costa Rica participates for the second time in a World Cup while this is the first time for China.

The next matches of Costa Rica - in Group C - will be on June 8 against Turkey and on June 13 against Brazil.
