S. Korean Special envoy Lim Dong-won will depart Seoul for Pyongyang Wednesday morning in South Korean Presidential Flight No. 3 (HS-748) on his mission to explain to DPRK leader Kim Jong Il the need for normalization of inter-Korean relations and US-DPRK talks. Lim is scheduled to return Seoul on Friday.

At the People's Palace of Culture Wednesday afternoon, Lim and his party are expected to discuss current issues, including the recent situation on the Korean peninsula, family exchanges and the Seoul-Shinuiju railway connection, with the Secretary of the Workers' Party Kim Yong Sun before dinner.

Lim is also to deliver a letter from President Kim during a meeting with Kim Jong Il, probably on Thursday, where he is likely to deliver Kim's thoughts about the situation on the peninsula.

President Kim told to Lim Tuesday that above all, peace and security on the peninsula was the most important, adding he would like him to reach an agreement on inter-Korean cooperation and sincere compliance with what the two countries have already agreed on, according to Cheong Wa Dae spokeswoman Park Sun-sook.

Six officials will accompany Lim, including Kim Bo-hyeon, head of the National Intelligence Service, and Jo Myeong-gyun and Kim Cheon-shik of the Ministry of Unification.
