U.S. President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will attend the Friday evening's opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the White House announced on Wednesday.

The president will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony andbefore the ceremony begins, he will meet U.S. athletes, White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said.
