BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games scheduled on Friday night at the National Stadium. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will declare the Games open.
Li Yahui, a national speed skating champion, was recently invited to give a class on speed skating to children in Youyi county, Shuangyashan city, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. Li became a member of a speed skating team at the local sports school in Jixi city, Heilongjiang, in 1972.
As the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games approach, sales of merchandise related to the Beijing Winter Paralympic mascot Shuey Rhon Rhon have gone viral in China, following the craze for Bing Dwen Dwen, the mascot of the Beijing Winter Olympics. A series of souvenirs including Shuey Rhon Rhon keychains, toys and medallions have gone on sale, and the Olympic flagship store on Tmall announced that pre-orders for Shuey Rhon Rhon souvenirs have been available since March 1.

Unlike other posters made by professional designers, this minimalistic design that combines Chinese culture with the Olympic spirit was created by a student in Sichuan Province.
