GAINING MORE SUPPORT, UNDERSTANDING
Dong Manyuan, deputy director of the China Institute of International Studies, said the foreign minister's Middle East tour shows that the Chinese new leadership attaches great importance to the region.
China has already proposed to build the new Silk Road economic belt across Eurasia and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road that connects the Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic. The two Silk Roads are likely to meet in the Middle East.
During a forum on China's diplomacy in 2013, Wang said that based on those new proposals, China will enhance cooperation with Arab countries.
Meanwhile, China's persistent call for a political solution to the Syrian crisis is receiving more and more support and understanding from the international community. Acting in a just manner, China is gaining wider clout and playing a greater role in the Middle East's regional affairs, Dong said.
