The school was the first hope primary school in Nong'an County 18 years ago. There was a time when the school had over 60 students at most. But now it has only 6 students and 4 teachers. A new policy requiring the merging of poorly-equipped schools in 2006 resulted in a sharp decline of student numbers at many village primary schools which located in remoted areas with outdated teaching conditions.
