On the morning of September 1, the juncture area of southwest China's Sichuan and Yunnan provinces was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9.
Several minutes after the earthquake, more than 520 soldiers of the No. 8750 Unit of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) were seen on the way rushing to the quake stricken area to carry out rescue operations.
As of the press time, the soldiers of the unit have leveled more than 2,000 square meters of ground for the setting up of makeshift settlements, built 174 tents for local people, evacuated more than 1,000 quake victims, made 30 km of damaged roads reopen to traffic and transported 27 tons of relief materials.
