A brighter future for Sino-Russian relations (2)

International strategic cooperation between the two countries continues to strengthen. On almost all major international and regional issues, China and Russia share a common or a similar position. The two countries actively promote and establish a fair and rational international political and economic order through close and effective international strategic coordination.

Public exchanges between the two countries have also strengthened. Through events like the "national year" the "language year" and the "tourism year", people-to-people and cultural exchanges are flourishing, and improving in structure and content. Between the people of both countries there is a degree of personal warmth. Over the years, poll returns show that the people of both countries regard each other as among the most friendly.

We can say that China-Russia relations are currently at their zenith, but there are prospects that the relationship will continue to improve in the future. First of all, for the foreseeable future China and Russia face transformation in the pattern of their economic development, in their ranking as leading world powers, and in the realization of their national rejuvenation strategies. China and Russia are each the largest neighbor of the other, and therefore success in the above tasks can only be achieved in circumstances where there is a relationship of friendship and cooperation between the two. The fate of China and Russia requires friendly cooperation between the two countries, so we must each see the other's development as an opportunity rather than a threat. In the face of growing challenges posed by a complex and changeable international environment, strong cooperation between China and Russia is necessary both to safeguard their own interests in the world and to make a greater contribution to world peace, cooperation and development.

We believe that the stable and healthy development of Sino-Russian relations will contribute to the well-being of the people in both countries, and bring prosperity to humanity on a more general level.
