2. Summer Palace
Situated in Haidian District in Beijing, the Summer Palace is 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from the city center. It is a former imperial palace and now a park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Summer Palace is mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and the Kunming Lake. It covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers, three quarters of which is water.
