A noodle stand starts to offer suspended noodles, a bowl of noodles paid for in advance as an anonymous act of charity for those who need help in Hefei, capital city of China's Anhui province.
The tradition began in the cafés in Europe, where someone who has experienced good luck will order a sospeso, paying the price of two coffees but receiving and consuming only one. A poor person who asks later whether there is a sospeso available would then be served a coffee for free. Coffee shops in some Western countries have adopted the suspended coffee to increase sales.Edited and translated by Gao Yinan, People's Daily Online
