The Wonderland Amusement Park, which the developer once boasted would be the largest of its kind in Asia, is disappearing on the horizon as demolition crews replaced tourists to be the only visitors to the park today. Located in the northwest suburb of Beijing, the Wonderland filled with antique European castles turned into a ghost town, or “fairy land withering in the crop field” dubbed by residents living nearby, after the construction halted abruptly in 1998 because of financial difficulty. A string of photographers were attracted there to aim their cameras at the obsolete architectures till last Sunday. On May 12, 2013, the demolition was near completion.
