3 rescued from SW China flooded coal mine (7)

WENG'AN, Guizhou, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Three miners trapped in a flooded coal mine for nearly 60 hours were rescued early Monday in southwest China's Guizhou Province, sources with the rescue headquarters said.

The three, Feng Zuxue, Liang Guanghua and Luo Laijun, were lifted to safety from the Yunda Coal Mine in Guizhou's Weng'an County at 6:35 a.m., the sources said.

Three others remained missing at the mine, which was hit by flood last Friday. Rescuers had earlier confirmed that three miners had been dead.

The three survivors, two of whom are locals of Weng'an, have been hospitalized. They were in stable condition when rescued, the sources said.

Eight principals had been taken into police custody after the accident.
