Deputy Consul-General Liu Kan congratulated People’s Daily Online Australia on behalf of the Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Sydney. He said that in the last 16 years, People’s Daily Online has made significant contribution to China by gaining understanding and support from the international community.
Federal Member John Murphy delivered a speech on behalf of the Australian Federal Government. He congratulated the landing of People’s Daily Online in Australia, and showed his gratitude to the company which becomes an important platform to promote bilateral communication. He believes that the company in Australia will take its outstanding role in maintaining and further promoting the relationship between China and Australia.
Councilor Charles Casuscelli made a speech on behalf of NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell. He briefly introduced the development of ethnic media in Australia, emphasizing it’s not only important to the community, but also the whole society of Australia. He congratulated the achievements that People’s Daily Online has made in the last 16 years and wishes the Australia Company every success and prosperity.
Mr. Liu Xiang, General Manager of Shenhua Australia Holdings Pty Ltd, delivered his speech on behalf of China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA). He introduced the history and progress of CCCA in the speech. “People’s Daily Online comes to Australia just like a ship about to set sail carrying our highest hopes for a brighter tomorrow. China Chamber of Commerce in Australia will work closely together with People’s Daily Online in the days ahead to create that better future,” he said.
Mr. Frank Chou, Live Honorary President of Teo Chew International Convention and Senior Honorary President of Australia Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, gave his speech on the event on behalf of local community leaders. “People’s Daily Online website can not only bring latest Chinese news to Australia, but also offers Australian news and information to Chinese readers. It is beneficial for development of cultural and economical exchange and corporation between both nations. There will be a bright future and more space for these countries to explore,” he said.
