OJ Simpson: American football star and Hollywood actor who was charged with the double murder of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. Acquitted in 1995 after a trial which had Americans glued to their TV sets, he was however found guilty of murder by a jury in a civil trial in 1997 and ordered to pay 33.5 million dollars in damages.
