(8) Italy and Eastern European countries

A female tourist sightseeing alone may encounter a woman who gives a “child” in swaddling clothes to her. When she is in puzzlement, the woman’s confederate will take the chance to steal her bags, wallets, cameras, and other belongings. After the thieves run away, the tourist will find that the “child” is just a rag doll.

Solution: Be vigilant against gypsies or beggars in the street. Walk away immediately if they try to approach you.
