China deeply concerned over continuing tensions in Middle East: spokesperson
BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- China is deeply concerned about the sustained regional tensions in the Middle East, and opposes attacks on civilian targets such as civil aviation airports, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday.
China calls on relevant parties to resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation to help restore peace and tranquility in the Middle East at an early date, he added.
Guo made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked to comment on new attacks on Saudi Arabia by Yemen's Houthi group. The Houthis claimed on Tuesday that it had launched attacks on multiple targets in Saudi Arabia using ballistic missiles and drones, including the Saudi Defense Ministry and Abha International Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
