Art and photography exhibition on China's Xinjiang opens in Kyrgyzstan
BISHKEK, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- An art and photography exhibition showcasing the magnificent landscapes and diverse culture of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region opened on Tuesday in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
The two-week exhibition at the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts features 40 selected artworks and photographs about Xinjiang. Sun Dapeng, chargé d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, said at the opening ceremony that cultural exchanges between China and Kyrgyzstan promote mutual learning between civilizations and strengthen friendship between the two peoples.
Noting that Xinjiang serves as an important bridge for people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, Sun expressed hope that the exhibition would offer more people in Kyrgyzstan an opportunity to learn about Xinjiang and deepen their understanding of China.
Aigul Mambetkazieva, director of the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts, told Xinhua that such art projects offer an opportunity for cultural dialogue and enrichment, helping to build bridges between the two peoples.
"I really enjoyed this exhibition. It has given us greater insight into China," said local student Akylai Uzakzhanova, adding that the exhibition not only allowed her to admire these beautiful works but also inspired her to visit the places depicted in person one day.
The exhibition is jointly organized by the International Cooperation Department under the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Xinjiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
