State Bank of India confirms cyberattack
NEW DELHI, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- India's largest bank, State Bank of India (SBI), said on Wednesday that a cyberattack by hackers breached the organization's data, resulting in the disclosure of 3,897 customer records on the dark web.
According to the bank, the exposed data included customers' registered mobile numbers, dates of birth, names, gender, email addresses, and residential addresses.
SBI said it has activated its cyber incident response and containment protocols and engaged an independent cybersecurity agency to conduct a comprehensive assessment and investigate the nature and extent of the alleged compromise.
The bank claimed that the leak is not expected to have any material impact on the bank's core business operations, financial performance, or business continuity.
