Chinese medical team delivers hand hygiene training to Tanzania's Zanzibar health workers
DAR ES SALAAM, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The 36th Chinese medical team in Tanzania's Zanzibar conducted a hand hygiene training session on Thursday to mark Global Handwashing Day.
The training program, held at Lumumba Hospital on Unguja Island, aimed to raise awareness of infection prevention and improve safety for patients and medical staff.
During the session, Chinese doctors demonstrated the full set of handwashing techniques recommended by the World Health Organization and explained the five key moments for hand hygiene in healthcare settings.
The event reinforced routine infection prevention protocols and highlighted hand hygiene's vital role in safeguarding patients and frontline health workers.
Mwadini Maalim Simai, head of the anesthesiology department, said the practical training would help improve infection prevention and control in clinical settings.
"Timely handwashing can save lives," said Wang Wei, leader of the medical team.
He added that the event also highlighted cooperation between China and Tanzania in improving healthcare quality and patient safety in Zanzibar.
