Intelligent tunnel construction solution unveiled in China

BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China has unveiled an intelligent construction solution for tunnels built using the drill-and-blast method, marking the country's tunnel construction entering an era of intelligent construction, according to the China Railway Group Limited.

The solution focuses on intelligent construction scenarios for tunnels and underground projects, and establishes an intelligent construction system integrating on-site sensing, edge computing and cloud-based decision-making, said the China Railway Tunnel Group, a major developer of the solution.

The solution enables intelligent operations across multiple construction processes, coordinated management of project operations, and rapid decision-making across multiple enterprise systems, the company said.

The intelligent construction solution is currently being applied to projects including the Changsha-Ganzhou high-speed railway, providing a replicable model for intelligent construction innovation in the tunnel and underground engineering.

With artificial intelligence technologies advancing rapidly, the tunnel engineering industry is undergoing digital and intelligent transformation, the China Railway Tunnel Group said.

The company will continue accelerating the digital and intelligent transformation of tunnel and underground engineering, it added.
