China's mission in Geneva, UN human rights body co-host event on economic, social, cultural rights

GENEVA, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese envoy in Geneva on Tuesday elaborated on China's human rights progress throughout the process of Chinese modernization, during a side event at the ongoing 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

China is also committed to sharing its own effective experiences in advancing human rights on international platforms, said Li Xiaomei, minister of the Chinese delegation to the UN in Geneva, while moderating the event on the Knowledge Hub for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR Knowledge Hub) at the Palais des Nations.

The hub was established in 2024 pursuant to the ESCR resolution led by China and adopted by consensus at the 54th session of the Human Rights Council in 2023, with its online platform launched in 2025.

The event was co-hosted by China's Permanent Mission to Geneva, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and other partners.

Present at the event were representatives from South Africa, Mexico, the European Union, and Malaysia, as well as those from non-governmental organizations and academia, and permanent representatives and senior diplomats.
